The house, as it is today, is the result of the re-development in 2000 of the East wing extension of Herrison Hospital (Dorset County Asylum), which was designed by asylum architect GT Hine and opened in 1895.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The building is not listed. However, it lies within the Charlton Down conservation area and is classed as being a locally important building by Dorset Council, due to it’s historical interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
